A full-scale impact test, performed using a 100 kg pendulum striking a door panel at 20 km/h, demonstrated the system’s durability. The panel, uprights and safety interlock all withstood the impact. The panel absorbed most of the energy and deformed as expected, while the posts and safety switch remained fully intact and operational.
The partnership between safety-switch manufacturer Fortress Safety and guarding specialist Troax resulted in a modular access solution engineered for heavy-duty environments.
To validate the robustness of this combined system, we carried out a controlled impact test. The setup consisted of a Troax Strong Fix door system with 80×80 mm uprights equipped with an amGard Pro safety interlock from Fortress Safety, mounted using standard installation plates.
The test followed the pendulum-impact method described in ISO 14120:2015, Annex C.
A 100 kg pendulum impacted the door at a height of 1466 mm above floor level. At an impact velocity of 20 km/h, the system was subjected to 1600 J of energy.
The outcome confirmed the resilience of all components:
– The door panel absorbed the majority of the impact energy and deformed as expected.
– The posts remained undamaged.
– The Fortress Safety amGard Pro interlock continued to operate correctly and showed no mechanical damage.
This confirms that the combined Troax–Fortress solution provides a high level of mechanical resilience suitable for extreme industrial safeguarding applications.View the test.
